finished DPS pages 6/7.
I am also happy with this double page spread. I didn't think that the images would work but they actually do! Changing parts of my design for the spread was for the best i think, making contrast between the T/S with the rend really makes the title stand out i think. Sticking to the monochromatic colour scheme has made it look as one. I'm not sure if i like the typeface which i have used for the T and S so that's one thing i would go back and change possibly.
Fitting the text around the T.
To fit my text around the T i used the pen tool and changed the path by clicking on different spots around the T so the text would flow around it. I did this because it looked better on the page, rather than trying to align the writing, as it was tricky trying to do that without managing to get it overlapping the T.
finished DPS pages 4/5.
Overall i am also really happy with this double page spread, i changed it around alot through the process of designing it but i'm happy with the outcome. I like the random parts of the tartan pattern coming in at the sides, it really brightens up the page.
Header for page 4
For my header on page 4 i decided to double it up, making the back one alot bigger and at the same time more opaque. I did this using the effects and then adjusting the Transparency. I then decided to do another more smaller version onto, changing the opacity but not as much so it stands out above it.
finished DPS page 2/3.
I am really happy with the outcome of my first double page spread. I love the white space that i have used, it really brings everything out on the page.
Graphics for pages 2/3
I decided instead of writing 'Kate Moss' as a headline to make a K in illustrator then placing it into InDesign. I decided to put it next to the body text, turning it into a large Drop Cap.
I then decided into of doing a boring M to make two images into an M and placing in at the top of page 3, representing the M in Moss.

Image for my Tartan dps.
For my Tartan dps i decided to use this image of Rowan, because of her tartan scarf. Before placing the picture onto my double page i edited it turning it into black and white, following suit of the other images.
Image for my Kate Moss page.
For my Kate moss page i decided to place two images into an 'M' shape, i decided to use these two images of meg and placing them into a collage so they were together. I did the same with these images as i did with the others, i changed them so they were in Black and white. I repeated the lipstick on these images too so that they were the same as the others.
Images for my 'Trends' dps.
I took this image for Megs coat.
I took this image for both Megs disco pants and boots.
I took this image for Megs jewelry.
Before placing these 3 images into my Trends dps i firstly edited them on Photoshop, putting them all into black and white so that they suited the colour scheme. Each one i edited the same. With the top image of meg i added a dark red to her lips so it looked as though she was wearing lipstick, i did this before changing the image to greyscale.

Close ups of the detail which i added into the eyes, lips and face. Layering them up to create the tones and 3d'ness.
Progression shots of my vector.
Here you can see how i've gradually built up on that part of the face, showing the amount of detail in which i added to the eye to complete it, but also the nose which looks more real after adding a few more shapes. Also you can see that i have started adding a few shapes showing the different tones and levels of the skin.
Vector of Cara.

Here are a few screenshots of when i first started doing my vector of Cara. This mainly shows the detail in which i started putting into the eye by using small shapes and filling in with pacific colours. It has taken alot of time to do just the one eye, but i have tried to put as much detail as i could into the eye as i wanted it to look almost realistic.

Drafting my DPS.
I have come up with 3 DPS, each have a different layout including different information, I have stuck to a simple design for all 3 so it fits in with my front covers being simplistic, taking ideas from fashion magazines such as Vogue.
Here is my first draft, this dps being all about Kate moss. I have labelled everything on the page so i know for definite whats going to be what. On this dps there is alot of white space, in and out of the graphics/text on the page which is what i like. I wanted to incorporate Kate Moss' name on the page but in a more creative way. This led to me coming up with a more creative idea of having a big bold K on the first page. Followed by the outline of an M on the second, inside the M will be a picture, in which i will have taken myself. I will stick to a monochrome colour scheme of black and white throughout this design.
Here is my second draft, this dps being on the latest trends. I wanted to make these pages stand out, therefore i wanted to create the background using imagery in which i have taken. I really like the idea of having a full page image, then two smaller images across from it, all overlapping. The idea would be to change the opacity so that they are still visible under eachother. I then had the idea of having the type almost connecting with the edges of each images, i have tried to show this on my draft. Overall the rest of the pages will be very simplistic and involve text only when and where it is needed.
Here is my third draft, this dps will be all about the trend Tartan. This page would be very simplistic also, involving alot of white space. I like the idea of having a tartan background on the right hand side of the dps with an image on top in which i have taken, that will include an item of clothing that is tartan. Then on the left side will be centre aligned, having a large title above, then somehow carry a part of the tartan pattern across the page so that it underlines the title.
DPS Spread Scamps.
Here are my double page scamps, as you can see i have tried out different layouts in which i could have for my double page. I prefer the ones with more white space and less writing/imagery. I also like the ones which include full pages of imagery and small amounts of text.

Second magazine.
I started off by placing the image i wanted to use in the middle of the page, leaving a broad white space border around.
I tried out different colours for the lines, i did this to see which one i preferred, i realised if i did do a range of covers i would do a different colour for each issue.
First magazine masthead.
Due to my first magazine being alot less creative and more formal I drew out the masthead and diamond with the pen tool so that the lines were straight, then filled in the gaps of the text with white giving it a transition of thick to thin, which is what I wanted so it was more of a modern typeface.
Magazine draft head.
Due to my second magazine being alot more creative and bazaar I decided to draw the masthead for this magazine instead. I wrote the 'Tres' both upper case and lower case, then drew out the diamond. I put it against a black block so i could clearly see the white outline as i was doing it.
