Editing my photo.
Here I am changing Sam's jacket to a similar colour to the original one, i did this by firstly going around the outline of his jacket using the pen tool, once i went around the whole thing, I right clicked and chose the option of paths, filled it with the colour I wanted then changed the blending modes to multiply so I could still see the jacket but also so the colour still stood out. I then did the same for his tshirt, changing it from blue to white.
Adding the writing to complete the coverlines.
When doing my writing i firstly found the correct typeface which was identical to the original coverline font, i then did the writing once and added it to character styles so when doing the writing again instead of going through the whole process more than once, i could just click the character style and it does it automatically which saves time.
Adding my graphics.
When making the boxes, instead of making them separately each time i just did the first box and added it to object styles, i did this for both colours. This made it easier so when i drew out a box, i could just go to object styles and click either the yellow or red, and it would automatically come up.
Adding guides.
I have placed so that I can align the type so that it is in the same place as it is on the original magazine cover. Also you can see on the toolbar i am on 'Character' this helped me changed the typeface how i wanted it to be to try and get it as aligned as possible. I used it to make the font taller or shorter, and also the use of kerning when needed.
Screenshots of the first two processes i went through.
The first thing i did when starting my copy of the magazine was look for the typeface which was identical, or as similar as i could get it to the NME title. I used a document called 'FontDoc' in which i had downloaded, i typed in 'NME' and scrolled through the difference typefaces till i found the one in which i was happy with. I also did this for 'Bombay bicycle Club' and luckily found two very similar type faces for both of them.
