Second magazine.

I started off by placing the image i wanted to use in the middle of the page, leaving a  broad white space border around.
I tried out different colours for the lines, i did this to see which one i preferred, i realised if i did do a range of covers i would do a different colour for each issue.

First magazine.

First magazine masthead.

Due to my first magazine being alot less creative and more formal I drew out the masthead and diamond with the pen tool so that the lines were straight, then filled in the gaps of the text with white giving it a transition of thick to thin, which is what I wanted so it was more of a modern typeface.

final draft.

Magazine draft head.

Due to my second magazine being alot more creative and bazaar I decided to draw the masthead for this magazine instead. I wrote the 'Tres' both upper case and lower case, then drew out the diamond. I put it against a black block so i could clearly see the white outline as i was doing it.

magazine draft image.

For magazine draft i decided to go abit more wild with the image. I deformed ellie's face by copy various segments of her face such as her eye, eyebrows and mouth creating a abstract piece. I then put it into greyscale. Using the pen tool i went around each pieces of clothing like the jumper, shorts and tights changing them into different colours and putting them to multiply.  I also made it so the tree was green, giving it a good contrast between the greyscale of her face, hands and left half of the image.

Scamp ideas of my magazine.

I decided to change my magazine name to 'Tres diamond' but replacing the diamond with an outline of one instead. I based the placement of the girls on real images in which I found on pinterest and other places, they helped give me an idea on the layout and how to place my models when taking the images, in which I wanted my magazine to be like. I've decided to go for the basic layout which involves a lot of white space around, as I preferred it to a more crowded one. The images in which I have took included the poses in which are on these designs.

Coverlines.

A few coverline's which I came up with, all based upon fashion. I don't plan on using them all on my cover but there are a few that i like and will incorporate into it.

Pictures for mock.

Picture wise for my magazine I have taken these images to use which a few were based upon my scamp ideas. I liked the idea of Greyscale and colour so decided to edit some of both.

Stencil spraying.

For my stencil I used Kate moss. I firstly chose my image and edited it on photoshop, I adjusting the threshold so that you could clearly see the contrast between the dark, medium and light tones. I then placed each one on a separate layer so that the dark tones were on one, the medium tones were on another, then the light tones were also on a different layer. After printing each separate layer I used a craft knife and a cutting board to cut out all of the black on each image. I then put my stencil onto a piece of plain paper, sticking it together with blue tack. I used the spray diffuser to spray ink over the cut out pieces which produced my sprayed image of Kate Moss. After doing so i scanned them in and started editing them on photoshop.

Once in photoshop I opened each separate scan onto a new layer, I then chose 3 different colours, dark, medium and a lighter tone. I firstly came up with these colours, i played about with it editing the options etc. Such as changing certain layers to 'multiply' for a better effect. Eventually i turned on all the layers do that all the colours were layered upon each other creating this image above.

I decided that the three colours didn't give a good enough contrast between the layers, so I made the head a different colour to the rest of the body, making it stand out more and look less blocked and boring.

and here is my final stencil spray, i'm not exactly pleased with how it looks but now i know for next time what i could do better, or differently.

Parody.

 =
I chose to do my Parody on the Mona Lisa by Leonardo Da Vinci and then incorporate Kate moss into it. such as her face and chest. I chose Kate due to her being well known for her fashion career. For my parody i cut out Kates face and placed it on the Mona Lisa, i then tried my best to blend it in with the neck line and her chest. Eventually i changed the image to black and white so it looked less edited than what it did in colour. After doing so i changed the colours of the mountains in the background to produce and abstract art piece.

Finished second magazine copy.

This is my finished magazine copy, i am happy with my copy to a certain extent but much more could be done to it to make it better, such as making the background more blue. Or making the shadow correct. I also ended up having all the graphics above the image which is not what i wanted, as in the original the hierarchy of some of different to others, in which the image is in front of the Q logo etc. If i had more time on it those are some of the things i would add/change.

Editing my image.

For my image I used Andy and his guitar, we first took a load of different images trying to get him into the correct position. I aligned him as much as possible when taking the photo so that he fitted into the layout like the original. I then edited the image on photoshop, changing the brightness, contrast and then edited the curves so that his face was paler. I then changed the colour of his shirt using the pen tool around the shirt and changed the colour to black, and edited the opacity.
