For my stencil I used Kate moss. I firstly chose my image and edited it on photoshop, I adjusting the threshold so that you could clearly see the contrast between the dark, medium and light tones. I then placed each one on a separate layer so that the dark tones were on one, the medium tones were on another, then the light tones were also on a different layer. After printing each separate layer I used a craft knife and a cutting board to cut out all of the black on each image. I then put my stencil onto a piece of plain paper, sticking it together with blue tack. I used the spray diffuser to spray ink over the cut out pieces which produced my sprayed image of Kate Moss. After doing so i scanned them in and started editing them on photoshop.
Once in photoshop I opened each separate scan onto a new layer, I then chose 3 different colours, dark, medium and a lighter tone. I firstly came up with these colours, i played about with it editing the options etc. Such as changing certain layers to 'multiply' for a better effect. Eventually i turned on all the layers do that all the colours were layered upon each other creating this image above.
I decided that the three colours didn't give a good enough contrast between the layers, so I made the head a different colour to the rest of the body, making it stand out more and look less blocked and boring.
and here is my final stencil spray, i'm not exactly pleased with how it looks but now i know for next time what i could do better, or differently.
